Taking dig at the Islamic scholars and Ulema of Jammun and Kashmir for their inaction in the Kashmir struggle in general and Asifa’s brutal rape and murder, Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, on Tuesday urged them to come out of their Darul Alooms and lead the people on streets.

“Why are Ulema of Kashmir sleeping? Do they not see how brutally the 8-year-old child Asifa was raped and murdered? Why are they not doing anything while the blood of innocent children is being spilled across Kashmir,” Andrabi said in a statement. She said that time for inaction has gone. “Ulema must come out of their Darul Ulooms and from pulpits of Masjids and should lead people in the streets. You (Ulema) have a significant role to play as this peoples’ movement is at its zenith. This movement against India needs your contribution,” she said. She said that Ulema know how Muslims must act when their daughters, mothers and sisters are in danger. “

The Ulema can effectively make people understand that Prophet Mohammad SAW, among other conditions, has said that Muslims must wage Jihad if their women are in danger. The Ulema must make people understand this fact and should be a part of this pious movement,” she added. “Aren’t the cases like Kunan Poshpora, Shopian, Islamabad and now Asifa’s enough to shake our conscience and aren’t these cases enough to establish that our women are in grave danger. These incidents were horrible and in such a situation, the silence by Ulema is disturbing. Act before people bar you from entering in the Masajids,” she added. She said that not only in Kashmir but globally there is an outcry over the brutality committed on Asifa.

“It is clear how BJP, RSS and their affiliate Hindua Ekta Manch hatched the conspiracy to dislocate the nomadic community in Kathua. They wanted to grab their property to settle Hindus there.” “Lal Singh who led the march, time and again, threatened the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir. The Bar Association of Jammu also held pro-rapist rallies. It was clear case of intimidation as these Hindutva forces want to drive out Muslims of Jammu like they did in 1947,” she added. “Our inaction in such situation will have grave consequences. We must act before it is too late,” she added. Meanwhile, a spokesperson of DeM also expressed grave concern over the condition of Kashmiri prisoners in jails across JK and outside.

She said that condition of Dr Mohammad Qasim, who was shifted to Jammu against court orders, is critical. “ His health has deteriorated to a large extent and what is disturbing is that no one allowed to meet him,” she added. The spokesperson said that his health especially the condition of his eyes is critical. “He is suffering from Glaucoma and in absence of medication, his eyesight is damaged to an alarming level,” she added. The spokesperson said that in absence of medical facilities, Dr Qasim is withering in pain.

“ India wants to break our resolve so that we stop demanding our right but it should remember that ideologues, like Dr Qasim, who have spent their lives for a truthful cause for the sake of the Almighty Allah, such miseries and pain doesn’t stop them from continuing their struggle against falsehood and Indian occupation. India is mistaken if it thinks it can break the resilience of such leaders by such cheap tricks. Such acts only make strengthen our resolve,” she said.
